"The 'life' is manifested when Logos and Chaos dance together." – Marco Lustri
Marco Lustri's artistic practice transcends the conventional boundaries of rational abstract painting and abstract expressionism, delving into the intricate nature of the human psyche. Employing a diverse range of techniques, Lustri manipulates acrylic pictorial materials, incorporating collages, pastels, oils, and resins on both intimate and expansive panels. Through this process, order and chaos are brought into a dynamic interplay, a vital dance that forms the core of his visual explorations.
Born in Rome, Italy, in 1972, Lustri embarked on his artistic journey at the age of 33. In 2012, he enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, where he studied under the tutelage of Giuseppe Modica and Pier Luigi Berto. These mentors imparted not only technical proficiency in classical drawing and contemporary painting but also a profound passion for the arts. Following his academic pursuits, Lustri dedicated himself to painting from observation, particularly focusing on "en plein air" landscapes, which significantly enriched his artistic and technical repertoire.
Driven by a deepening engagement with philosophical studies, Lustri shifted his focus from representational art to an exploration of the underlying forces that govern human existence and the universe. His current work ventures beyond the tangible world, seeking to uncover the fundamental nature of these forces. While distinctly original, his works reveal a resonance with the artistic approaches of Anselm Kiefer, Heimo Zobernig, and Oscar Murillo, reflecting a shared pursuit of exploring the profound through abstract forms.
